Covid-19 Policy for Colleagues

To our colleagues,

Given the unprecedented and fast moving COVID-19 pandemic, we have made plans to ensure that we are able to continue supporting you and our clients during what we expect will be a period of significant demand for our services and continued challenges to the delivery of care.

We need your help

The impact is still expected to change and will likely continue for at least several more months.

You must tell us if you have been somewhere, where there is a confirmed or suspected case of the virus, or if you or someone you live with has symptoms such as a new and persistent cough, high temperature or fever.

We want to keep you working so that we can continue to support our clients, but we know that it may be necessary for you to isolate yourself.  If this becomes necessary, we’ll do everything we can to support you.

We are working with our service users to understand their own policies as we continue to support and deliver the care they need.

Innova Care is committed to reducing and minimising the transition of infection. It is a requirement that everyone has the responsibility to ensure that they manage personal hygiene effectively within the principles of the Infection Control Policy and Procedure, and where there is responsibility for housekeeping, that good standards are maintained. We continue to ensure that staff and Service Users understand that although it is not possible to prevent the spread of the virus, steps can be taken to control/reduce the spread by:

  • Good hand washing practices

  • Practising good personal hygiene

  • Covering the mouth and nose with a tissue while sneezing or coughing

  • Individuals must not be using cloth handkerchiefs or reusing tissues. This practice carries a risk of contaminating pockets or handbags which may then re-contaminate hands every time they go into those pockets or handbags

  • Disposing of used tissues promptly and carefully (bag and bin them). Tissues must be disposed of in domestic waste they do not require any special treatment

  • Washing hard surfaces (e.g. worktops, doorknobs) with a domestic cleaner regularly. Normal household detergent and water must be used to clean surfaces

  • Avoiding unnecessary travel

  • Avoiding crowds where possible

  • Ensuring that children follow this advice

  • Always wear appropriate PPE. (gloves/face masks/face shields/ aprons) etc.

We also must advise you to follow Government guidelines when in the community.

Please follow government and local advice on looking after yourself and the service users we support.
